Octopussy & The Living Daylights: 1st/1st 10s 6d DJ - RARE black boards variant
Jonathan Cape 1966 (95 pages): NEAR FINE condition jacket over FINE book and boards. Features the less common, but original 10s 6d price to jacket (poor initial sales meant most copies tend to have a higher, over-priced sticker). This book is also a much rarer 'black boards' variant (as opposed to the standard brown-dark grey boards). Gilbert notes (p446) that: "A very few books were bound in black cloth," and that "black cloth copies are significantly fewer in number." He adds: "So few firsts were bound in black." [and that a similar variant occurs with On Her Majesty's Secret Service]. Clean and bright book with no only a hint of spine fade to the jacket. Internal pages are in excellent and bright condition throughout, free of markings and foxing/spotting. No inscriptions of any sort. Page block good. Overall, a super example, and a rare variant.
