Dr No: 1st editon 1st impression (1958)

Jonathan Cape, 1958 (256 pages): NEAR-FINE and example of this VERY RARE (20,000 print run) book, with front board featuring the dancing lady silhouette.  This example presents in a very good UNCLIPPED jacket, which has only wear to the folds at the top of the DJ spine and chip to top right corne. Jacket features the as called-for black 'Ian Fleming lettering on spine (later impression DJs have this lettering in white). Boards are in excellent condition - sharp, square and tightly bound. Save for a very small interal owner's name to front endpaper, internally this is totally mark-free and free of foxing, marks or any blemishes. Internal pages are in superb white, and crisp, and in as-new condition. Page condition complete with a (rare) exceptionally clean, white page block too. All told, this is a lovely example of a title becoming very hard to find in this condition. A fantastic collectors' copy.
